Your walk of faith is all about next steps. I get the privilege of teaching a class at LifePoint Church called Discover LifePoint. (If you attend LifePoint and have never attended this class, you can register for September’s class here!) Right out of the gate we make sure that everyone recognizes that we know that everyone is on the same journey and we are here to help you get to a Christ-centered life. Next steps happens for everyone, new believers, people growing in their faith, people maturing in the faith…
The point is, is that everyone is on this path. We may be on different steps but we are all on the staircase. Sometimes it’s personal growth and sometimes it comes in the form of tangibles.
Since day one of launching the Stewarts Creek Campus of LifePoint Church, campus pastor Kris Dolberry has always asked us, “Who are you raising up?” He has taught me that if the Student Ministry I lead would suffer if I was no longer leading the ministry, then I am not doing my job to raise up new leaders. As a leader it is my responsibility to help people get to their next steps. This week will mark the start of next steps for a dear friend of mine and I cannot be more excited for him!
For the last two years I have tried my hardest to pour into a guy named RC Ford. I know I have done a good job at it, because he has a list of things, a mile long, of what NOT to do! Kidding. But it is a true honor to do ministry with him. Just like some great people around me have poured into me and raised me up to be a trusted leader in the church, so goes it with RC. Long story short, I’m excited as we begin to transition RC to become the next Student Pastor at the Stewarts Creek Campus. RC has a tremendous passion for people and students and this role allows him to play into that at a far greater reach.
As for me, I will still be around. I am moving into a new role that takes a broader approach to our Next-Gen Ministries at the Stewarts Creek Campus of LifePoint Church. This is my next step.
Next steps are necessary but they can only happen if you want them to happen. You have to be in step with God in order to take next steps with God.
But what’s the next step for you?
Maybe you need to consider a radical commitment of time, energy or money. Maybe you need to plug into a small group. Maybe you need to plug in and start serving. We are all called to be the hands and feet of the body of Christ!
What’s your next step?
